Colorado River

The perfect place to cool off during hot Moab days!

Distance from Moab 2 miles (3.2 km)
Directions from Moab Head North on Main St. There are access points up Highway 128 (a right turn before the bridge over the river) and down Potash Road (a left turn 1/2 a mile after the bridge).

Located just north of Moab by a mile or two, the Colorado River is a very popular place for summer recreation of all sorts including whitewater rafting, kayaking, canoeing, tubing, jet boats both thrilling and calm, and much more. The river has no dams or reservoir outputs until further down river and so Moab gets the most natural section of the massive river. Further up-river from Moab is a very popular location to go whitewater rafting with world-famous “Best Of” rafting trips such as Cataract Canyon. The Colorado River gets all of its water from the Rocky Mountains further north, which results in the river staying rather cold. It is the perfect balance with the scorching desert heat, however.
